Add CategoryQUEEN Maxima of Holland’s sister has died of an apparent suicide at the age of 33.
Inés Zorreguieta, the younger sister of the queen, was found dead at her home in Buenos Aires.
Inés worked for the government in Argentina in the Ministry of Social Development.
A spokesman for the Dutch government confirmed her death to La Nacion, adding: “Presumably, it was suicide.”
She is thought to have suffered from depression and mental health issues.
Ms Zorreguieta was the godmother of Queen Maxima’s youngest daughter Princess Ariane, 11.
She was the youngest child of the late politician Jorge Zorreguieta, who died last year, and Maria del Carmen Cerruti Carricart.
Queen Maxima is expected to fly to her native Argentina for her sister’s funeral.
