FORMER terror suspect Zaky Mallah, who once threatened to kill officers of ASIO, has been arrested in Singapore.

Seven News reported the Western Sydney-based Mallah has been detained in a holding cell at Singapore airport ahead of the US-North Korea summit next week.

Seven News reported that authorities detained and questioned Mallah for more than five hours after he flew in from Sydney last night. He is to be deported back to Sydney, the network stated.

In a clip broadcast on Seven, Mallah can be heard saying: “They asked me a lot of questions about my history, about my dealings with the Australian government, ASIO, my trip to Turkey, Syria.”

Seven News reported that Mallah said the Singaporean government saw him as a security risk, and did not want him near the upcoming nuclear summit where Donald Trump will meet with Kim Jong-un.

Seven News quoted Mallah as saying the treatment he received was unfair.

Mallah was the first person in Australia to be charged with terror offences, and in 2011, travelled to Syria during the nation’s civil war.

He pleaded guilty to threatening to kill officers of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2011.

Authorities are yet to comment on the arrest in Singapore.

Mallah first came to prominence in 2015 on the ABC panel show Q&A, when he controversially claimed that Liberal government policies were pushing young Australian Muslims into joining ISIS.

His appearance caused a public outcry and the ABC subsequently issued a statement saying they had made an error of judgment in allowing him to appear.

More to come.
