A TOURIST who was captured taking photographs from the edge of cliffs at The Gap in Albany has been labelled ‘an idiot’ by WA Premier Mark McGowan.

Video of the man shows him sitting on the edge of the dangerous holiday hotspot - just weeks after a young man fell to his death at the same location.

With one leg hanging over the edge of the forty metre high cliff, the man casually takes photographs of the drop.

The Premier labelled the move as stupid.

“You can't control people being idiots,” he told 7 News Perth.

“If people want to be idiots, it's really tough to stop them.”

The dangerous stunt comes two weeks after 20-year-old Ankit fell to his death after running and jumping along the rocks while his friends took photos.

Friends of the man, who had been studying in Perth, released photos of his final moments in the hope it would warn others of the deadly dangers at the coastal tourist hotspot.

Albany police said the group of students were visiting from Perth on the day and were on the cliff opposite the designated viewing platform when the man fell to his death.

A witness said he hit several rocks before landing on a rock ledge at the base of the cliff.

He was then washed into the ocean by a wave.
