Australians spent around $172 a week on recreation in 2015-16, according to the ABS household expenditure survey, released last year.
That's a slight fall from 2009-10, when recreational spending was $184 a week.
Households spent $76 a week on holidays in 2015-16, almost 30 per cent more than in 2009-10, with spending on overseas holidays up 50 per cent.
The biggest spending fall was on TVs: households spent nearly 60 per cent less on those than in 2009-10.
