Murdered businessman Michael McGurk.
Photo: SuppliedCrown prosecutor Gina O'Rourke said Medich had shown "absolutely no remorse" for ordering and financing the contract killing and intimidation, which were at the upper range of seriousness and showed "wickedness", greed and callousness.
Rather than engaging in "calm reflection" in the months leading up to the death and calling it all off, Medich instead demanded to know why Mr McGurk wasn't already dead, she said.
Ms O'Rourke read from a transcript of evidence Medich's former associate Lucky Gattellari gave at the trial, where he said Medich became "very agitated and annoyed" because it was "taking so long" for Mr McGurk to die.
Gattellari said Medich asked him: "What the f--- are you doing? All this f---ing money and the guy's still walking around. What's going on?"
Ms O'Rourke said the "execution-style murder" was witnessed by a nine-year-old child and took place in close proximity to Mr McGurk's family.
"The offender didn't care how [Mr McGurk] was to be killed," Ms O'Rourke said.
"The facts show an extremely serious offence of premeditated murder for financial reward.
"The Crown ultimately submits that the objective seriousness of the offence of murder is such that the culpability of the offender can only be met by a sentence of life imprisonment."
Ms O'Rourke said aggravating factors were the use of a firearm, that the murder was committed in the presence of a child, and that the murder and intimidation both involved planning and were committed for financial gain.

Mr McGurk's family submitted victim impact statements to the court, the contents of which were not released.
Justice Geoffrey Bellew said the effects on the family were "catastrophic" and he found the statements "disturbing and saddening".
Medich's barrister Winston Terracini, SC, said his client maintained his innocence.
He said Medich was of prior good character and, if given a lenient sentence, would likely be aged in his 90s when he was released.
"We don't deny that this is a very, very serious matter," Mr Terracini said.
Medich will be sentenced on June 21.
