"You look absolutely beautiful," he tells her. "You truly belong here with us among the clouds."

In the novels written after the release of The Last Jedi, Calrissian remains friendly with the Rebel Alliance and ultimately ends up marrying a woman. "He's coming onto everybody. He's kind of like a '70s swinger. I feel like if you're in space, the door's open."

Glover went on to point out that it would be impractical to date only men or women in a galaxy far, far away. This is because other life forms might have three genders, or five. Some might not have a gender at all.

"This thing is literally a blob," he joked. "Are you a man or a woman? Who cares! Have a good time."

Not everyone is happy that Donald Glover's character isn't explicitly queer on-screen. Some fans have accused Disney of trying to "earn LGBTIQ points without really doing anything".
