Labor MP Anne Aly has released a letter from Egyptian authorities to prove she is eligible to sit in Parliament after Opposition Leader Bill Shorten earlier ordered her to obtain and publicly release the evidence.

Fresh concerns over Dr Aly's eligibility were aired days after a High Court ruling forced the departure of another five MPs over citizenship doubts, triggering a string of byelections across the country.

According to documentation published on the parliamentary citizenship register, Dr Aly submitted a request with the Egyptian embassy to renounce any citizenship on May 4, 2016.

To have been eligible for Parliament under the High Court's interpretation of section 44, candidates at the 2016 election must have completely renounced any dual citizenship by the June 9 nomination deadline.

On her submission to the register, Dr Aly stated: "In May 2016, I completed a declaration of renunciation of Egyptian citizenship and submitted it to the Egyptian government. I received confirmation of my renunciation from the Egyptian embassy."
