Prince Charles says he is 'deeply touched and honoured' to be confirmed as the successor of Queen Elizabeth II as the next head of the Commonwealth. The decision was made at the conclusion of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting after the Queen publicly endorsed her son to continue the work of her father, following arguments over whether Prince Charles should fill the posting given he will be the British sovereign. It is expected he will not assume the position until he is crowned the King of England.
