F1 driver and all-round nice guy Daniel Ricciardo is back home this week for this Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix and on Thursday night, he’s selling one of his cars to raise money for charity.
Ricciardo’s Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Red Bull Racing Special Edition Roadster will go under the hammer in Melbourne on March 22 at an event hosted by the Aussie racing star, with the money raised (above the reserve) going to the Racing for MNDi Foundation.
Racing for MNDi Foundation funds research into the inherited form of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) the progressive, degenerative disorder that Professor Stephen Hawking endured for more than 50 years – becoming its longest survivor – before it claimed his life last week.
The Vantage Red Bull Racing Editions were created by Aston Martin’s in-house personalisation service Q by Aston Martin, last year, with 17 of the $260,000 cars, featuring Ricciardo’s signature, sold in Australia.
Aston Martin’s ANZ Regional Manager, Kevin Wall, said there was already strong interest from racing fans keen to won the F1 star’s very own V8 Vantage S roadster and anyone who wanted to bid should register before Thursday night’s auction.
