IT’S what you should never do if you think you’ve ended up on the wrong flight.

A United Airlines passenger landed in hot water after ditching his flight from New Jersey by opening the emergency exit door and jumping down the inflatable slide, officials said.

Troy Fattun, 25, shouted that he was on the wrong plane at Newark Airport on Sunday, so he took matters into his own hands and pulled the wild stunt, which delayed the 7pm flight from New Jersey to Tampa, Florida for hours, NBC New York reported.

Port Authority police responded to Terminal C for a report of a “disorderly subject” at 10pm.

United spokeswoman Maggie Schmerin told The Post in a statement: “While Flight 1640 was parked at the gate at Newark Liberty International Airport, a passenger opened the emergency exit door and departed the aircraft using the slide.”

No one was injured.

Schmerin added that the flight — which was delayed even more due to a late inbound aircraft — finally departed for Tampa at 12.09am, following an “aircraft swap”.

Even though Mr Fattun claimed he was on the wrong flight, police said his ticket showed he was on the right plane.

Mr Fattun, a US national from Micronesia, was arrested on the tarmac on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass and interference with transportation, according to authorities.

He was taken Essex County jail, cops said.
