The names of the 17 people killed during a shooting rampage at a Florida high school on Valentine's Day have been released by local authorities.

Fourteen students and three teachers died when a 19-year-old former student allegedly open fire with an assault rifle at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, near Miami, on Wednesday.

Almost half of the victims were just 14 years old.

Cara Loughran, 14

Jaime Guttenberg, 14

Jaime's family made a frantic appeal on social media to find her after the shooting but the 14-year-old did not survive.

Her brother Jesse Guttenberg made it out of the school alive.

Their father Fred Guttenberg said on Facebook: "My heart is broken".

The local dancing community has asked dancers competing this weekend to wear orange ribbons, her favourite colour, in Jaime's memory.

Gina Montalto, 14

Her mother Jennifer Montalto said on Facebook: "She was a smart, loving, caring, and strong girl who brightened any room she entered. She will be missed by our entire family for all eternity."

Alyssa Alhadeff, 14

Alyssa Alhadeff has been remembered as an excellent student and a great athlete.

Her mother Lori Alhadeff lashed out at President Trump on CNN after her daughter's death.

"A gunman — a crazy person — just walks right into the school, knocks down the window of my child's door and starts shooting, shooting her and killing her," Ms Alhadeff said.

"President Trump, you say what can you do? You can stop the guns from getting into these children's hands!"

"I just spent the last two hours putting the burial arrangements for my daughter's funeral … President Trump please do something."

Martin Duque Anguiano, 14

Martin Duque's brother said on Instagram: "Words cannot describe my pain. I love my brother Martin, you'll be missed buddy. I know you're in a better place".

Luke Hoyer, 15

Luke Hoyer's family confirmed on Facebook that the 15-year-old died on the third floor of the school.

Peter Wang, 15

Carmen Schentrup, 16

Matt Brandow spoke about the loss of his cousin Carmen Schentrup on Facebook.

"I'm in a daze right now. I feel a million emotions," Mr Brandow said.

"I love you with all my heart and I'm going to miss you every single living day. I would switch places with you in a second.

"You were the smartest and most intelligible 16-year-old I've ever met! You will be remembered forever."

Joaquin Oliver, 17

Helena Ramsay, 17

Nicholas Dworet, 17

Nicholas Dworet was reported missing after the shooting but later confirmed dead by friends on social media.

He was planning to study at the University of Indianapolis.

Nicholas has been remembered as a talented swimmer.

Meadow Pollack, 18

Meadow Pollack was in the freshman building at the time of the shooting.

Father Andrew Pollack said his daughter had planned to study at Lynn University.

Scott Beigel, 35

Teacher Scott Beigel died trying to hide students in a classroom.

One of those students, Kelsey Friend, told Good Morning America Mr Beigel's actions save their lives

"The shooter probably didn't know we were in there because Mr Beigel was laying on the floor," she said.

Aaron Feis, 37

Football coach Aaron Feis died shielding students from gunfire.

He has been described on social media as a selfless man and a "friend to all students that know him".

Mr Feis reportedly leaves behind a wife and daughter.

Christopher Hixon, 49

Chris Hixon was the school's athletics director and a former naval reservist.

He had a wife and two sons.
