A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a car in the Canberra suburb of Florey.
The crash occurred shortly after 5:00pm on Thursday on the corner of Southern Cross Drive and Ratcliffe Crescent, ACT Policing's Detective Superintendent Mick Calatziz said.
He did not say what caused the incident, as investigations were ongoing, but said members of the public tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the 38-year-old Canberra man, who was a father.
The driver was the sole person inside the car.
"The man in the vehicle was not injured but obviously it's been a traumatic time for him as well," Superintendent Calatziz said.
"[We] also [give] our condolences and respect to the family. It's obviously a very challenging time for them and we have empathy for them at this time."
He said the crash involved a Nissan Forward Drive and a yellow Harley Davidson.
At about 8:00pm, the family were at the scene and were visibly upset.
Superintendent Calatziz said police were speaking to witnesses but were seeking further information and called on anyone who saw the crash to contact police.
"We need the cooperation of the community to help us solve this particular matter and our job is to search for the truth," he said.
He said ACT Policing was providing support to the driver of the car and the family of the man who died.
This was the second fatality on the territory's roads this year.
