UPDATE: One of the first people on the scene of a “horrific” car smash that killed a woman in Rowville this morning has told of the distressing aftermath.
Cranbourne’s Christina Mammino was at a charcoal chicken shop at the nearby Wellington Village shopping centre when the crash occurred at the intersection of Wellington Rd and Braeburn Pde about 11am.

She said she rushed over within 30 seconds of the smash and described the aftermath as “pretty horrific to say the least”.
Ms Mammino said she checked the woman’s pulse, but she had already died.
She said she put her jacket over the woman.
“There were a lot of people around, a few ladies were really distressed. I’ve never seen anything so extreme,” she said.
Maroondah highway patrol Sergeant Simon Coverley said the accident happened when a male driver travelling west on Wellington Rd hit the woman’s stationary Mitsubishi Lancer.
The woman, a 28-year-old from Seville, was the only person in the car.
The driver of the utility, a 33-year-old Seville man, is in custody.
Police have blocked off Wellington Rd at Silkwood Way in both directions. The road is expected to reopen about 4pm.
