Two separate watch and act alerts for Baldivis and Australind have been downgraded after firefighters were able to control both blazes late on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services initially issued a warning for Rockingham residents after the fire began near Millar Road in Baldivis in the City of Rockingham at around 3pm.

The warning included people bounded by the Kwinana Freeway to the east, Bertram Road to the north, Wellard Road to the West and Millar Road to the south in Baldivis in the City of Rockingham.

Kwinana Freeway south was closed due to smoke over the road, and the fire was contained just after 5pm.

While there is no longer a watch and act alert active, firefighters warned locals to still be cautious.
