The tables have been set for the first ever elimination round on season nine of My Kitchen Rules. 

Sunday night's episode saw Sydney sisters Jess and Emma fail to meet the judge's expectations. However, as is to be expected in reality television, the pair conveniently live to fight (quite literally) another day. 

Throughout the season so far, the blondes have slammed other contestants' food. One dish tastes like a boot, according to Emma, while another meal apparently resembled faeces in a bag.

Fans have waited patiently for the women to get what was coming. And boy did the eleventh episode deliver. Emma may have worn a ball gown while cooking, but her instant restaurant was far from a fairytale. 

Pete Evans summed it up best when he said Jess and Emma have talked a big game but their first and second courses were "very, very disappointing". 

"I love confidence," he said. "I think it's great. But you've got to back it up. What you've served here on the plate is yummy, but is it technically correct? No."

The women's dessert – a white chocolate cheesecake that was a favourite of their late stepfather's – saved the day, with Evans giving them a perfect score of 10 out of 10. 

Sunday night also saw team one score strategically reminding us that, despite the vicious arguments, the show is a competition. While many contestants gave Jess and Emma low scores, Stella and Jazzey dished out a nine in the hope they wouldn't have to face them in the elimination round. 

Their ploy proved successful, with next week seeing a face-off between the West Australian waitresses and the fresh-faced cooks Ash and Matty.
