When Married At First Sight finally introduced the couples at the first dinner party, Davina Rankin, 26, was quick to pick out Dean Wells, 39, as her preferred mate of choice. And there may be something in that.

Not that I should ever wish sexist Dean on any woman, but Davina (who is somewhat of a reality TV groupie after first appearing on Seven's First Dates) did little to ingratiate herself with viewers this episode.

Entertainment news highlights

Justin Timberlake's Superbowl show fizzes, TV rivalries rule the airwaves and Celine Dion has a message for Australia.

And Dean seemed only too keen on her, with the Woman's Day already claiming that the pair have been flirtatiously texting each other since their dinner meeting.

While it has been proven that a wife swap on MAFS does not equate to true love, take Cheryl Maitland and Andrew Jones last season as a prime example, I would happily see Ryan Gallagher and Tracey Jewel saved from their current partners.

It was all headed in that direction when Davina supposedly told (not on camera) Ryan that he could look for another wife at the coming dinner party. The matter became an area of contention between the couple in their Sydney apartment, when the cameras were once again rolling, with Ryan calling her out on their conversation in the airport.

Davina appeared to quickly backtrack, claiming: "I never said I wanted to be with someone else! ... You're just not f---ing listening that's the thing, you're twisting the words."

She tried a different approach. "You're not here to live with someone and hate it, you're here to fall in love. If I don't like you, I'm not going to be with you."

But Ryan wasn't buying it. "I know exactly what you are."

"Go f--- yourself I hope you do find a new wife," Davina concluded before continuing her beauty regime in the bathroom, as Ryan stormed out to phone a friend in order to leave. "I've had it. I'm gooone."

"I am ruthless but I would never be so rude to say to him 'I'm going to swap my husband', I'll tell everyone else that but never say that to him," she told the cameras. "If there was someone at tonight's dinner party that I was interested in I'd pursue that because that's what we're here for. He's 100 per cent not husband material for me."

Meanwhile Ryan continued the discussion outside with a show producer, while the cameras battled to catch up to him. "How do you want to be with someone who wants to meet other fellas?" he lamented.

"I'm just not excited about meeting other chicks. She's excited about meeting other blokes and she's making out that she's not and she's like 'what if you find someone more attractive?'

"Well you find a lot of girls attractive friggin' when we're out, doesn't mean I go up to them and go 'Hey, swap you for you'!

"It's not on, I don't think it's nice."

Despite not liking the drama, and just wanting a low-key relationship, Ryan did not call it off with Davina – who was also determined to go to the dinner party. "We can have fights and tiffs and stuff and just still go in there and have a good time."

The producers' discussion with Ryan clearly worked with him conceding: "I wouldn't end it yet because I want it to work."

Davina joked that their relationship was bipolar. But once at the dinner venue was quick to tell of their fight to another bride, Jo.

She also continued to bad mouth Ryan to the other younger women, when it turned out that she was one of the few brides to have sex with their groom: "So the way I put it down as, is that he's like your mate that when you get too drunk with him you end up like sleeping together."

To make matters worse for her unaware groom, she quickly revealed to the women her real wish: "I was really like hoping that there was a single hot guy that got left at the altar. I wish I was kidding."

But in a surprise turnaround, once seated at the dinner table (and a few drinks down) she once again took to calling Ryan "babe" and being affectionate.

"I shall work on my relationship, but I will continue to flirt 'cos that's what I'm good for," she admitted for the cameras.

And flirt she did, as Davina decided to strike up the 'do you work out?' chat with Dean before sizing up his manhood. "See the size of those hands babe?" she asked Ryan about Dean.

"I can't wait until we all live together, we can all sleep with each other," she continued to Dean and Tracey, in front of Ryan. Quickly followed by "I'm kidding" and a wink that had Dean raising his eyebrows, but reciprocating a wink in kind.

"I think I have a little crush on Dean, I know, I can't help it. It's how I feel," she once again told the cameras.

Once she had established that Tracey and Dean had slept together, Davina cheered Tracey in what appeared to be fake camaraderie for being a fellow bedmate. "I was like 'I won't sleep with you on the first night', but I'll see what you're packing. I'll just make sure that we're good," she shared about Ryan. "How much is three inches?"

Davina's oversharing continued at the other end of the table when she took to telling MAFS returnee John that she hated Ryan for the first hour upon meeting him, and revealed how her groom threw up on the floor during their honeymoon.

And it wasn't long before she started confiding (perhaps drunkenly) to fellow brides Carly and Ashley that she really wanted Dean. "I think Deano is an absolute babe... I'm like 'I love you'. If I wasn't here with my partner, Deano would be like my person. Every time he talks to me I'm like your shoulders are way to big for this room."

"How many husbands do you want to steal tonight?" asked Carly.

"Like one," said Davina, unashamedly. Carly told Davina that "you can't say shit like that", which she later elaborated for the cameras would be awful for Tracey hear.

But Dean did exactly the same thing, telling Patrick: "[Tracey] is a really nice girl but there's definitely a few issues. I'm still not like 100 per cent sure if she's exactly the right girl for me to be honest. But there's a few hotties here.

"I mean Davina is pretty cute. For sure, holy shit! I am definitely attracted to her."

An unwitting Tracey however beamed for the cameras. "I'm felling pretty happy with my match, like 100 per cent. He's the tall drink of water in the room, why wouldn't I be happy with that?"

The single Perth mother may be none the wiser now, but the experts did promise to "rip off the masks" come the commitment ceremony on Sunday. And in the footage ahead, viewers got to see Tracey berating Dean: "We were intimate this morning .. it makes you look like an arsehole."
