A third woman has come forward alleging sexual harassment while working at Victoria's gold rush museum Sovereign Hill.

The women say they've experienced inappropriate behaviour including groping and exposure while working at the open-air tourist drawcard.

Sovereign Hill says two male staff members were investigated over their behaviour in 2016 and 2017, with one stood down.

A man accused of sexual misconduct on Wednesday was on leave, Sovereign Hill Museums Association boss Jeremy Johnson said.

The media and arts union says the museum fell short of its duty to provide a safe workplace but Sovereign Hill has defended its handling of the allegations.

"The potential for discrimination and harassment to arise in the workplace is a threat for any organisation and Sovereign Hill takes the issue extremely seriously," Mr Johnson told reporters on Wednesday.

Police say they're investigating multiple complaints from staff and it's inappropriate to comment further.
