Police are asking the public for assistance in the search for a man who stole a sum of money from the Aldi supermarket in Chisholm on Tuesday. 

Around 9:45am the man approached a member of staff at the checkout and demanded cash. After staff complied with the request, he was last seen running towards Proctor Street in Chisholm.

Police have described the man as caucasian in appearance, in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall and with a slim build. His face was covered with a black t-shirt and he was wearing a hoodie and grey tracksuit pants.

ACT Policing would not confirm if the man was armed.

On Wednesday ACT Policing called for anyone with information about the the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference 6230867.
