A primary school teacher has been charged with indecently assaulting three nine-year-old girls at a school in Blacktown in western Sydney.
The alleged assaults happened at Tyndale Christian School last year and police became aware of the claims in November.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad arrested the man at Valley Heights at 1:00pm on Tuesday.
He has been charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under authority of the offender.
He has been granted conditional bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court in March.
Police said the man was a teacher at the school at the time of the alleged assaults, but no longer works there.
In a statement, Tyndale's Principal Jack Joyce said the school became aware of the allegations in November last year and suspended the teacher immediately.
"I can only reassure you that the school takes child protection extremely seriously on and off the school grounds," he said.
"We are a child safe school and our child protection policies are amongst the strongest in NSW.
"All staff undertake regular professional development."
Many parents and carers arriving to pick up their children were shocked to hear of the charges.
Grandmother Bendu Joseph said it was "scary" while another mother, Rachelle Potter, said she had received the principal's email just minutes before collecting her children.
"I am just really thankful the school has sent a message to the parents and been upfront about everything," she said.
