The trial of a former Gold Coast police officer accused of leaking footage showing a handcuffed man being beaten by other officers will continue on Tuesday.
Rick Flori, 47, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of misconduct in relation to public office.
On Monday, the Southport District Court heard allegations Flori leaked footage of officers at the Surfers Paradise station in 2012 bashing Noa Begic due to his resentment at being overlooked for a promotion.
Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller said Flori was upset rival David Joachim had been promoted to senior sergeant in 2011 and not him.
Snr Sgt Joachim, who retired in 2013, was one of the officers on the footage leaked by Flori.
Defence barrister Saul Holt said the suggestion of a vendetta was "nonsense" and his client had released the footage in an attempt to expose police brutality.
Mr Joachim, who said he and Flori were not friends, denied seeing officers strike Mr Begic either at the time of the incident or during a subsequent investigation where he reviewed the CCTV footage.
Mr Holt asked Mr Joachim if he could see Mr Begic be struck after playing a portion of the footage where an officer can clearly be seen striking the man.
"No, sir. I could not," he replied.
Mr Joachim will continue to give evidence on Tuesday.
