A man and his dog have allegedly been attacked with a baseball bat during a walk in Bunbury, Western Australia.
The 25-year-old was with his German Shepherd on Larsson Place, Usher, when he was approached by a pair of men known to him.
Police allege the men left their vehicle and began attacking the 25-year-old with a metal baseball bat.
He was then tackled to the ground, while his dog was hit with the baseball bat, police said.
After breaking free, the man’s alleged attackers gave chase before fleeing the scene.
The dog was seriously injured during the incident, and had to have one eye removed.
Detectives have since arrested a 29-year-old man from Withers. He has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, cruelty to animals and being armed in a way that may cause fear.
He will appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on January 8.
Another man was arrested, but he has been released without charge as investigations continue.
