Two teenagers were forced to jump from their dirt bikes when a motorist drove his four-wheel drive directly toward them, before assaulting one of them in a road rage attack in Perth's northern suburbs, police have said.

The teens, aged 16 and 19, were sitting on their off-road motorcycles on a verge on Lilac Place in Dianella about 7:30pm on Sunday when the incident occurred.

Police allege the man, 37, drove his four-wheel-drive over a curb and directly at the teenagers who were forced to jump off their bikes to avoid being hit.

The man then allegedly drove over one of the bikes, before striking the 16-year-old on his lower back.

The teenager received minor injuries.

The man has been charged with intent to harm, criminal damage and common assault.

He is due to appear in court on January 18.

His vehicle has been seized.
