ONE person is dead and another person is fighting for life following a horrific head-on crash in Brisbane’s east on Christmas Day.
A black sedan collided with a silver sedan on Manly Rd, near the intersection with Lockwood Cres, at Manly West about 11.20am.
Early investigation suggest the black sedan, which was driving inbound, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and took out a tree prior to the collision with the silver sedan, which was headed outbound.
A female, believed to be aged in her teens, was in the back seat of the silver sedan and died soon after the crash.
The front passenger of the silver sedan has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the black sedan was taken in a serious condition, as was the driver of the silver sedan and another rear passenger.
Emergency services had earlier said that two people were trapped in the wreckage.
It took firefighters some time to remove the two people trapped, and CPR was performed on one of the injured people, emergency services had said this morning.
“It’s a pretty horrific crash,†a police spokesperson said.
Police closed Manly Rd in both directions at the crash scene and warned drivers of lengthy delays in the area.
