WHERE THE LEADERS CAMPAIGNED:

* Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk: continued campaigning in far north Queensland, starting in Cairns before travelling to Proserpine and then flying back into Brisbane.

* Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls: also started the day in Cairns with a morning radio interview blitz before travelling to Tully and then stopping in Townsville

WHAT LABOR TALKED ABOUT:

* Ms Palaszczuk announced a major $40 million upgrade of Whitsunday Coast Airport which she said was much needed in the wake of Cyclone Debbie and also boosting tourism.

"We know this is a prime destination for people not just around Australia but around the world." - Annastacia Palaszczuk.

WHAT THE LNP TALKED ABOUT:

* Mr Nicholls proposed to build two 90-bed youth "reintegration centres" in an effort to rehabilitate young offenders in a $40 million election promise that would replace the Labor government's planned suburban youth bail houses.

"Labor's plan for community bail houses is a knee-jerk reaction, it hasn't thought through the program properly." - Tim Nicholls.

WHAT MADE NEWS:

* The same sex marriage survey results overshadowed campaigning with the premier proud to see 60 per cent of Queenslanders voting yes and calling on her federal colleagues to immediately act in parliament.

* The opposition leader suffered his first misstep of the campaign, bungling details of his new youth detention centres policy which policy advisors had to correct later.

* One Nation candidate Scott Dare claimed the anti-bullying Safe Schools program was "designed by open supporters of pedophilia".
