A young Spider-Man swings into action in "Homecoming" in the form of Tom Holland. Various visual effects companies worked on the film, including Sony Pictures Imageworks, which was responsible for the climactic battle.

Actor Tom Holland donned the spider-spandex to play the lead role. But as athletic as the dance-trained Holland is in real life, he was replaced by an all-CG digital double for many stunts.

The digital double appeared in about a third of the 300 effects shots created by Sony Pictures Imageworks for the film's finale.

Spidey takes on the villainous Vulture, played by Michael Keaton. The effects team used real footage of the dextrous Holland and slower-moving Keaton to create CG versions of the nimble superhero and his heavier, more mechanical foe.

Spider-Man's mask makes him an easier character to animate than if a human face was required.

The action heats up as this stunt requires CG assistance.

Out of the frying pan for the digital double.

CG Spider-Man does whatever a real Spider-Man can (and more).
