Worker trapped under construction materials
A man has become trapped in a 15-meter pit beneath sheets of reinforcement steel mesh at a construction sight in Cronulla.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Rob Murray said the man, in his 30s, was stabilised by six paramedics and a doctor.
"Paramedics kept the patient stable and calm through what was a difficult process," he said, adding that the man had been taken to St George Hospital.
When police and emergency services arrived, a "difficult vertical extrication process" was planned and executed.
The man was lifted from the pit shortly after 2pm.
Mr Murray said the man was "alert and ... constantly assessed" throughout the extraction.
A SafeWork NSW inspector has attended the site.
