If there were a prize for winning the most prizes, Ray Hadley would get that one, too.

On Saturday, the former taxi driver – now 2GB's top-rating morning host – collected four gongs at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs). Having won a total of 30 throughout his career, he becomes Australia's most decorated announcer.

Entertainment New Highlights

Jason Aldean tributes Las Vegas shooting victims on SNL with a homage to the late Tom Petty, 'pisspotgate' threatens to boil over on The Bachelorette and Harvey Weinstein is ousted from his own company following sex harassment allegations.

In front of 1000 industry peers, at a lavish dinner in Melbourne, Hadley was awarded best talk presenter and inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside Sydney FM breakfast host Amanda Keller. His Continuous Call segment earned him the best on-air team prize, and his program also claimed best sports coverage.

Hadley's Melbourne counterpart – 3AW morning host Neil Mitchell – added a 20th ACRA to his mantelpiece with the Brian White award for radio journalism. Though Hadley and Mitchell work for the same company, they're not exactly close.

Mitchell – a long-time supporter of same-sex marriage – recently slammed Hadley for failing to air equality anthem Same Love during his coverage of the NRL grand final. Instead of broadcasting the song, performed live at the game by US rapper Macklemore, Hadley played his own parody version. An "appalled" Mitchell described this as "rubbish ... embarrassing and unprofessional".

"Stick your head up your bum, Neil," Hadley replied.

Other major winners include Nova's Katie Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold (Best on-air FM team); Kiis FM shock jocks Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O (best networked program); Fox FM's Fifi Box (best syndicated program for Boxed In); and 2GB's Ben Fordham (best current affairs presenter).

The Hit network's Hamish Blake and Andy Lee received two awards (best station-produced comedy segment, and best station promotion). The pair are stepping down from radio at the end of this year, and will be replaced by two daily programs: Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little, who will host the first part of the afternoon slot, followed by Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek.

Hughes and Langbroek first worked together in the late 1990s on community station Triple R. A brief stint on Triple M followed. When Nova launched in Melbourne, in 2001, they were part of its breakfast team. In 2015, they joined Kiis, and will move to the Hit network next year.

Amanda Keller is the first female presenter to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A media veteran, she began her career in the early 1980s as a researcher on Simon Townsend's Wonderworld. Keller and WSFM co-host Brendan Jones recently beat Kyle and Jackie O to become Sydney's No.1 FM breakfast show.

Ken Small, host of Smallzy's Surgery on Nova, claimed the best music/entertainment prize for the second year running. Triple M's Peter Sterling was named best sports presenter. Erin Molan, from 2GB, was crowned best newcomer.

"The diversity of winners across radio highlights the depth of talent throughout Australia," said Commercial Radio Australia CEO, Joan Warner.

A panel of judges – including representatives from all radio networks; and from the advertising, marketing and engineering industries – chose the winners.

Fairfax Media (publisher of this masthead) is a part-owner of radio stations including 2GB, 3AW, 4BC, 6PR, 2CH and Talking Lifestyle.
