The David Hayes team have a number of chances at the rich Makybe Diva Stakes meeting at Flemington, however Catchy, the Blue Diamond Stakes winner of last season, looms as one of the stable's most important. Catchy just ran out of condition last time at Caulfield returning from a break but battled on well to be second.

Pitted against the colts in the rich group 2 Danehill Stakes on Saturday, Catchy faces her toughest test since taking out the Blue Diamond.

But at $4 she represents great value.

WA SPRINTER'S FLEMINGTON DEBUT

High-class Perth sprinter Scales Of Justice, a dual group 1 winner in his home state, steps out for the first time at Flemington in the Bobbie Lewis Quality.

However, the five-year-old has bumped into genuine group 1 sprinters in Saturday's straight race, including Redkirk Warrior and Voodoo Lad.

In fact, the race favourite, Redkirk Warrior, could head north for the $10 million Everest next month if successful here.

Scales Of Justice has won nine races from just 17 starts and hasn't missed a place during his decorated career.

ON ROAD TO THE GUINEAS

The unbeaten Royal Symphony takes another significant step towards the group 1 $2 million Caulfield Guineas on Saturday when he starts in the Pin And Win Plate at Flemington.

Having racked up wins at Pakenham and twice been successful at Flemington, Royal Symphony has been given a 70-day break since he gathered in his rivals to win after coming from last.

With Dwayne Dunn on board, Royal Symphony looks a star bet considering the natural talent we've seen earlier in the year.

CUP WINNER ON TRACK

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner Almandin, who was so brave at his first-up effort at Moonee Valley last time, looks poised to be a major player in Saturday's Japan Racing Association Trophy.

Almandin, who didn't race during the autumn, looked good, finishing quickly at Moonee Valley over 2000 metres last start.

Almandin would have relished the outing and his strike rate over this distance is two from two and his Flemington record is also strong, with two wins from just three trips to the track.

The favourite, and major opposition, is stablemate Crocodile Rock, who's at $4.

However, the $5 on offer about Almandin looks far more appealing considering his impeccable record over staying trips.

SWEET CHOCOLATE

The Darren Weir-trained Chocolate Holic, who was scratched from Wednesday's Balaklava Cup in South Australia for Saturday's The Sofitel, looms as another star bet.

His recent performance at Caulfield was first-class after having no luck in the early and middle stages of the race.

The former Perth galloper, who has won seven races from just 14 starts, has struggled on wet Victorian tracks but looks ideally placed here if the surface remains dry.

He's at $4.20, the second favourite in the race behind Mr Sneaky at $3.20.
