Baby great white swims in beach pool

After being rescued from the shores of Manly Beach in distress, the great white was stretchered into a nearby pool while it recovered.

Several members of the public tried a number of times to help the shark back into the water but were unsuccessful.

The shark appeared to have suffered injuries to its lower mouth and was moved into Manly's Fairy Bower pool.

Nearby lifeguards kept a close eye on the shark before it was transferred to the pool on a stretcher.

Rob Townsend, Life Sciences manager at Manly Sea Life Sanctuary, was called to the scene and said they placed the shark in the pool to monitor its condition.

"Our team came down and caught it," he said. "We put it in the pool to monitor it without waves. We're just watching her condition."

The shark was removed from the pool on Monday night and taken to the nearby Manly Sea Life Sanctuary.
