An Australian federal police officer accused of accessing child exploitation material has walked from court after being granted bail.

Gregory Paul Edwards, 45, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday after he was charged by AFP officers.

It follows an investigation by the AFP Professional Standards unit and a raid on his Geebung home.

Police allege that he accessed child pornography materials at his home between June 15 and August 30 using a carriage service.

In the Brisbane Magistrates on Friday, Edwards was granted bail with no objections from police.

Under his bail agreement, he must report to police once a week and not use the internet other than for study, work, banking and legal matters.

He is also prohibited from having unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 and going within 100m of any international departure points.

Edwards did not make a comment outside court.

He has also been suspended from the AFP.
