In what is believed to be a first, music lovers will not be able to take bags of any size into Australian venues as part of Ariana Grande's security measures in the wake of the deadly Manchester bombing.

The promoter of her tour, Live Nation, has advised no bags of any size will be allowed to be taken into Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane venues, with fans urged to only carry items that will fit in their pockets.

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT Finishing time for Game of Thrones, the Katy Perry vs Taylor Swift video wars, Magda Szubanski gets teary while Karl Sandilands gets angry.

The security measures come after a suicide bomber killed 22 people and more than 50 injured after the singer's Manchester concert in May.

Grande will be playing two shows in Melbourne next week, before the tour moves to Sydney. She will finish the Australian leg of her Dangerous Woman tour in Brisbane.

Cloak rooms will also not be available. However, plastic ziplock bags will be provided for people's personal items.

Cameras are also banned, but smartphones will still be allowed.

Geoff Donaghy, the chief executive of Sydney's International Convention Centre, encouraged concertgoers to show up to venues "well in advance" to ensure there weren't delays as a result of the security measures.

He said it was the first time the ICC had seen security measures of this size and scope.

"Our strongest and most stringent recommendation is for people not to bring bags, but if they do, to bring a small number of items in a clear plastic bag," he said. "We don't see it as a particular inconvenience. We just see it as part of our obligation to provide the most safest and most enjoyable entertainment experience for our patrons."

Donaghy said while people who purchased tickets through official channels had been contacted about the no-bags policy, he was concerned the message hadn't filtered through to people who'd snapped up tickets via resellers.

Grande has been touring Asia following the One Love Manchester benefit concert, which raised more than $3 million for victims of the lethal terrorist attack and their families.

Similar security measures were put in place at Grande's other concerts, including her recent performances in New Zealand. Prior to taking the stage in Hong Kong, local police prepared for the worst by simulating an unsuccessful terror attack.
