Canberra Giants co-coach Sharyn Hill will be casting her eye of over the State League finals in the hope of finding standouts who can force their way into Australian Netball League contention.

The Canberra finals will begin on Friday night when the undefeated Canberra plays against Arawang, while defending champion Tuggeranong will clash against Belconnen.

Hill, who led the Giants in their first ANL campaign, says the best Canberra players have an opportunity to impress coaches with a strong finals performance.

"Every player in the state league competition has been monitored and we have kept a close eye out week to week," Hill said.

Canberra is chasing a perfect season after finishing the regular season with nine wins and one draw from 10 games.

They have scored 60 more goals than their nearest rival and can secure a grand final spot if they topple Arawang in a major semi-final.

Coach Tara Steel said the bond between teammates had paved the way for success.

"For the girls building as a team, over the past two seasons in particular, I guess this year was as much about trying to put their best performance out as a team," Steel said.

"Now that we have geld and come together. The success that we have had has been about the netball we've been able to play, we are comfortable with each other as a team, we know each others strengths and play to each others strengths."

Canberra lost against Arawang by nine goals in the corresponding fixture last year.

"Spirits are high and we are looking forward to the opportunity and the contest, as well as testing ourselves against Arawang who are a very experienced finals team," Steel said.

"We came up against them [Arawang] in the semi finals last year and they beat us, so I guess that adds a little bit of fuel to the motivation for us out on court.

"Obviously being an ACT community the girls in our team know the Arawang girls quite well, so that always adds a different level of challenge when you know your opponents because you also know that they know you."

Canberra has attempted to work on its resilience, particularly after last years season ending injury to teammate Zoe Haseler.

Steel says that the players this season are taking nothing for granted this year, as they play on court with their injured teammate watching from the side.
