A MAN who allegedly punched a woman in the face during a road rage assault on the Central Coast has been charged.

Dash cam footage of the incident, uploaded on Monday, shows a man approaching 21-year-old Bianca Lee Sams at Lake Munmorah and punching her in the head as she stood beside a car.

Police charged a 41-year-old Windermere Park man with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on August 30.

Ms Sams, of Newcastle, accused a man of tailgating the car in which she and her friend were travelling and labelled him a “low life scumbag”.

Ms Sams said she had had thrown nails and a chisel at his ute to deter him, before she and her friend stopped at a set of traffic lights and the incident occurred.

The alleged attack was captured on a truck driver’s dash cam video and shows the man walking up to Ms Sams and punching her as she stood outside a four-wheel drive at a set of lights in Doyalson on Monday.

Dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, the man then turns his back on her and returns to his vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle Ms Sams was in then begins reversing towards the attacker walking back to his ute.

“He’s a bitch in my eyes, if he can hit a female. I feel sorry for his kids if he has any, I feel sorry for his wife if he has one,” Ms Sams told Channel 9.

Only one day after that altercation, another ugly road rage incident emerged in Merrylands yesterday.

A motorist recorded the sickening fight involving multiple men, one of whom takes his shirt off in the fracas which unfolded while cars were stopped at the intersection of Centenary and Douglas Rds about 5pm.

Ms Sams told A Current Affair the trouble started when her friend Taylor Benbridge, who was driving with her five-month-old son, overtook a ute that was travelling 50km/h in an 80km/h zone.

“He was slowing down to about 50 in an 80 zone I’m pretty sure, and that’s when we overtook him. And that’s when he started tailgating us and swerving us off the road.

“We were both scared, like out of our minds. We didn’t know what to do. And we were just like, we need to get rid of him, so we tried swerving away and whatnot and he kept following us behind us,” she said.

“I just grabbed a set of nails, from a gun, like a nail gun, and I then just started breaking them up and throwing them at his car, hoping that they would land on him but they didn’t. He just kept coming. I think I missed to be honest.

“Well I get out, I stand like this, and I’m just like, ‘What’s your problem mate, you’re driving like a dickhead.’ And that was it,” she recalled.

“He then just smacks me in the jaw. It still hurts. It’s hard to talk sometimes, hard to eat. But it is what it is. I gotta deal with it, don’t I?

“He turned around and called it self-defence and whatnot, and I said you just punched me in the jaw, that’s not self-defence.”

Asked by A Current Affair how she would describe her assailant, Ms Sams said: “Fricking idiot, low life, scum bag. F ... ing trash bag, if I had to, that’s what I’d call him,” she added.

Truck driver Dwayne Pillidge, who filmed the attack and posted it on Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia, said he was appalled.

“It doesn’t matter what the circumstances, you don’t punch women, ever,” he said.

Tuggerah Lakes Police Chief Inspector Colin Lott the incident was disturbing.

“Assaults of any sort are unacceptable. If anything happens on the road and that aggravates you, you do not take the matter into your hands. You certainly do not assault another person,” he said.

“We know who he is and would expect to get a statement from him in the very near future, either when he attends the police station or we go and knock on his door.

“At this stage there is much conjecture, some people making comments on social media but we will get everyone’s version of events.”
