The brother of alleged Bourke Street killer Dimitrious "Jimmy" Gargasoulas has appeared in court, accused of entering a woman's home and assaulting her.

Angelo Gargasoulas, 26, appeared briefly before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with unlawful assault with a weapon, unlawful assault and two counts each of entering a building with the intent to assault a person and intentionally damaging property.

He also faces single charges of possessing the drug ice and possessing a controlled weapon.

Charge sheets allege that last Saturday, Mr Gargasoulas entered a home in Carlton and assaulted a woman.

He is also accused of smashing the woman's $100 phone and a $500 glass door.

Mr Gargasoulas' brother, Dimitrious, faces six charges of murder and 28 counts of attempted murder over the deaths of six people who were hit by a car in Bourke Street on January 20.

A 10-year-old girl and a three-month-old boy were among those who died.

Angelo Gargasoulas on Wednesday agreed to abide by an intervention order that prevents him having any contact with the woman he allegedly assaulted.

He was remanded in custody to return to court in October.

Dimitrious Gargasoulas is in custody and is due to appear before court next month.
