This year marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, which launched smartphone technology into mainstream use. Now iPhones and Android smartphones have become ubiquitous all over the world.

Over the years, as these powerful pocket computers have taken on more capabilities, other commonly used appliances have become redundant.

Industry research firm CB Insights has posted an interesting chart from Statistica which shows some of the products the smartphone has almost wiped out completely.

The statistics are based on the US census and US Consumer Technology Association, but the trends apply similarly in other western countries.

Camcorders, or video cameras as they are called in Australia, have been hit the hardest as we now record full high-definition video on our handsets.
