The former coach of Manly's feeder club, Pat Weisner, claims Blacktown Workers players were given "cash payments in envelopes" in a stunning allegation that could form part of the NRL's probe into Manly.

Weisner, who was sacked earlier this year, wrote to the NRL's integrity unit claiming Blacktown's player payments weren't properly taxed and that employees didn't receive their superannuation entitlements. The integrity unit has interviewed Weisner regarding those and other claims he has made against officials of the Intrust Super Premiership side.

"Players a (sic) paid all of their payment in cash payments in envelopes. No superannuation. No tax paid," Weisner wrote in his letter to the NRL's integrity unit. "It is not a hobby as the players are told when they must train and play. The club pays players in Rounds 5, 10, 15 and on presentation night and on each occasion demands the players meet them in public places to be paid.

"On two occasions, the club has paid players next to Poker Machines, once inside the Workers club on a public table. I woud (sic) have thought that in this era, paying players cash next to poker machines would be highly innappopriate (sic)."

Keith Cochran, president of the Blacktown Workers Junior Rugby League, said he had not been contacted by the integrity unit and believed the club had acted appropriately in all its dealings.

"I don't believe the club has done anything that's illegal," Cochran said. "The guys who do the day to day running did dismiss Pat for reasons I'm not going to throw out there."
