A former La Liga regular will be leading the line for Western Sydney Wanderers' attack next season after the club completed the signing of their first marquee of the season, Spanish striker Oriol Riera.

The 31-year-old will join the Wanderers direct from the Spanish top tier after parting ways with Deportivo de la Coruna at the end of last season.

A former product of the famed Barcelona youth academy, La Masia, Riera is the first of what will likely be two marquee signings by the club who are intent on sharpening their forward line for next season.

Riera joins the A-League with no shortage of experience, having played 102 games in La Liga, scoring 23 goals.

He spent last season on loan at Osasuna who suffered relegation and also enjoyed stints at Wigan in the English championship, Alcorcon and Cordoba in the segunda.

He is the second Spanish player on the books at Western Sydney and the fourth of five allotted visa-players.
