Police tape blocking the home where a 21-year-old woman was found with life-threatening injuries.

A WOMAN, 21, was found alone in a Brisbane unit with “horrific” injuries, after a man made an anonymous, frantic-sounding phone call to paramedics seeking help.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the “suspicious” incident and want to speak with the man who led authorities to the unit on Brisbane Street, Bulimba, this morning.

Inspector Daniel Bragg told media the woman had injuries “to her entire body” and was believed to be in an induced coma.

He said they have no suspects and have been able to “get only limited information” from the injured woman.

“At about 10.30am a call was received to the Queensland Ambulance that there was a 21-year-old female who was in a unit who had sustained significant injuries,” he said.

“Police attended with the ambulance...(who) ascertained she was in a critical condition and she was immediately conveyed to hospital.

“An anonymous male person made the call and I’m led to believe he sounded frantic at the time, and was urgently seeking medical assistance for the young girl.”

He said police have no idea about the man’s identity and urge him to contact them.

“The matter is under investigation and there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered in relation to this, and police are treating it as suspicious,” he said.

“The exact nature of the injuries and how those injuries occurred, is yet to be established.”

EARLIER: A WOMAN has been left with life-threatening injuries after a serious assault in Brisbane’s inner-east this morning.

Police said officers were called to a unit on Brisbane St, Bulimba, about 10.30am and found a 21-year-old woman with “multiple life-threatening injuries”.

They said she was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

Police have declared a crime scene.

Several marked police cars are parked outside the property, which is set back from the road.

One neighbour, Paul, said he heard nothing until the ambulance arrived.

He said a man, estimated to be in his 30s, was renting the unit.

“Quiet neighbours - never had any trouble,” he said.

“Nothing untoward at all.”

Anyone with information about “recent suspicious activity in the area” is being urged to call police.
