Canberra cyclist Chloe Hosking hopes a full-time return to Europe will help her take another step forward in her career after signing a new deal with Italian team Ale Cipollini for next year.

Hosking joined Ale Cipollini earlier this year on a non-traditional contract, which allowed her to divide her time between a base in Australia and Europe.

However, she has decided she needs to be in Europe full-time from next year if she wants to get the most out of her career.

She won stage three of the women's Tour Down Under in January and will return to Australia after rasing in the Giro Rosa in Italy.

"Going into next year, I want to try to take another step up in my career," Hosking said.

"The best way to do that is to be in Europe and race in Europe full-time. I guess I'll need to try to get my family and my partner over to Europe more to make that work for me."

Hosking, 26, has been given a leadership role with the team and is enjoying the extra responsibility.

The role has added significance for Ale Cipollini as the team makes an effort to diversify its roster by adding riders from Germany, Holland and Belgium to boost its international profile.

With her future decided, Hosking is now looking forward to the second half of the season where she will be targeting the sprint friendly RideLondon which starts late next month.

"The team has reinvigorated my passion for the sport," Hosking said.

"Not only because they gave me the opportunity to sprint for myself but because they gave me a leadership role and more responsibilities.

"I love winning, but if I can help women's cycling grow and young girls become better riders, that will mean more to me, I suspect, when I'm finished riding than getting a stage at the women's tour ever will."
