The Canberra Heat will press their claims for a spot at the 2018 Volleyball Club World Championship when they compete at the Asian qualifiers this week.
The ACT men's side will represent Australia at the Asian Club Championships in Vietnam and are looking to finish on top of the 13-team field to book their place at the world titles later this year.
The Heat have drawn a tough pool where they'll face former winners from Qatar and Kazakhstan, as well as a Hong Kong side.
Coach Les Young has opted for a combination of youth and experience in his touring squad and believes his men have the talent to make a statement in Nam Dinh.
"We have a great mix of experienced players in the team with many having represented Australia during their careers," Young said.
"Some of our players have recently returned from playing in Europe and Canada where they are on either university scholarships or club contracts, so they are at the top of their game."
Victoria Volleyball Academy last represented Australia at the 2015 tournament and finished 14th, while Iran has been the most successful country in championship history with their teams capturing 11 titles.
Volleyball ACT will be further represented at the championships by referee Michael Fitzpatrick and Dean Turner who will be on the technical committee.
The ACT Heat men and women's teams compete in the Australian Volleyball League with both teams reaching last year's grand finals.
It marked a fifth consecutive gold medal playoff berth for the men's team who were crowned champions in 2011 and 2015 against fierce rivals Queensland.
The AVL season begins in September with three home games played in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport.
The AIS will also host the Asian qualifiers for the men's world championship on July 12-16, while the women's world grand prix group three finals will be played on July 22-23.
