1. The family of the man behind the terror attack at Finsbury Park say he’s been “troubled for a long time”. One person was killed and 10 others were injured when a van ploughed into a group of worshippers leaving one of London’s biggest mosques. The 47-year-old driver is being held on terrorism offences.

2. Britain’s economic growth will “shift down a gear” as Brexit talks begin. According to the latest economic forecast from the Confederation for British Industry, the UK economy is set for a persistently slow pace of growth over the next two years as it negotiates Brexit.

3. A car deliberately hit a police van before bursting into flames in central Paris. Police found a Kalashnikov rifle, handguns and gas bottles in the car. The driver, who died in the incident, was on a security watchlist.

4. Otto Warmbier, the US student detained by North Korea and returned in a coma, has died. He passed on Monday “surrounded by his loving family.” Following his death the Trump administration said it is determined to “prevent such tragedies from befalling innocent people at the hands of regimes that do not respect the rule of law or basic human decency.”

5. US president Donald Trump has met with the heads of 18 US technology companies including Apple, Amazon and Microsoft. The US government is seeking their help to make its computing systems more efficient ahead a major overhaul.

6. Jared Kushner, the president’s senior adviser and son-in-law, is reportedly looking for new lawyers as the Trump-Russia investigation escalates. Sources say Kushner’s allies began the search after it was reported that he requested a secret back channel between Trump and Moscow.

7. The US, Russia, and Iran are edging closer to an all-out clash in Syria. Tensions in the region are at boiling point after US-led coalition forces clashed with forces backing the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad for the fourth time in a month.

8. Russia is reportedly behind a disturbing number of assassinations outside its borders. According to recent reports by BuzzFeed News and USA Today, at least 33 people in the UK, US, Ukraine, Greece, India, and Kazakhstan have been murdered or died mysteriously in the last 14 years.

9. Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko will meet with Trump to pin down his stance on Russia. According to members of the Ukraine parliament, Poroshenko hopes to discuss Crimea, Washington’s role in reforms within Ukraine and the largely ineffective Minsk Protocol. The visit is expected to span June 19-20.

10. A Swedish rail line now scans microchip implants in addition to accepting paper tickets. SJ, a state-owned rail line launched in 2000, estimates 200 people out of the estimated 2,000 Swedish “biohackers” will start using the service.
