A man has been arrested in relation to the death of Carly McBride, nearly three years after the mother-of-two disappeared.
Ms McBride, 31, of Belmont, disappeared on September 30, 2014, when she visited her child at her ex-partner's home at Muswellbrook in the NSW Hunter region.Â
Her boyfriend waited to pick her up after the visit, but she never arrived.
Detectives from the Hunter Valley Local Area Command formed Strike Force Karabi to investigate her disappearance and conducted a series of extensive searches of bushland and properties in the Muswellbrook area.
In August last year, Ms McBride's remains were found in roadside scrub at Owens Gap on the outskirts of Scone, following a tip-off to police.
Details of the tip-off were kept under wraps, as police evaluated evidence from the scene.
Police at the time said they did not believe Ms McBride had been snatched off the street by a stranger.Â
Just after 8am on Monday, strike force investigators arrested a 39-year-old man at a home at San Remo on the Central Coast in relation to what the police called the murder of Ms McBride.
He has been taken to the Wyong police station to assist detectives with their inquiries.
Detectives also searched the man's home in nearby Buff Point.
After Ms McBride's remains were found in 2016, police searched three Hunter region properties including a storage shed in Scone, seizing several items including firearms, ammunition and prohibited weapons.
Police will address the media after midday.
More to come.
