Queensland Rail's Gold Coast and Beenleigh rail services in both directions have been suspended on Saturday as a result of damage to overhead powerlines.
The damage to the line is so significant that the services on the Gold Coast and Beenleigh lines will not resume until Sunday morning.
Access to Runcorn station has been closed off and police are stopping traffic at the rail crossing on Nathan road.
The Ipswich, Redcliffe Peninsula and Airport lines have suffered cancellations and delays as a result of the damage to the other lines.
Travellers can expect delays of up to an hour, with buses now in place to take passengers to their destinations until the time of the last scheduled trains.
Bus services are running from Yeerongpilly to Kingston and all services from Yeerongpilly to Park Road have been rescheduled to stop at all stations.
More to come...
