Sea Eagles escape Canberra's raid in golden point
Manly held on for a thrilling golden-point win over Canberra, thanks to a clutch Daly Cherry-Evans field goal.
The Sea Eagles had surrendered a 20-6 lead in the second half, with a foolish ruck penalty by Akuila Uate giving Jarrod Croker a shot at goal after the end of regulation.
The Raiders skipper slotted his sideline shot, completing a comeback that featured a pair of Jordan Rapana tries after the break.
Those four-pointer left the game in the balance at 20-18, when Manly and Canberra thought they had crossed for game-sealing and game-winning tries respectively in the final five minutes.
First, Manly's Addin Fonua-Blake powered through the defence in the 75th minute, but the bunker ruled confirmed a Martin Taupau obstruction in the lead-up.
About 90 seconds later, Elliott Whitehead was over in the corner for the Raiders, but again the try was called back, this time for a forward pass.
It was not until Croker capitalised on Uate's brain fade that the scores were level again, but the Manly winger redeemed himself.
The Raiders could not get to the end of their first set in extra time after Uate jolted the ball out of Junior Paulo's grasp as the giant Canberra prop took a hit-up.
It allowed the Sea Eagle to start their set deep in Canberra's territory and one Taupau charge later, Cherry-Evans coolly nailed his one-point shot from directly in front of the posts.

Depleted Dogs mauled by Panthers
Penrith dismantled a diminished Canterbury side, winning 38-0 to stretch its winning streak to three games.
The Panthers looked fresh coming off the bye, while the Bulldogs came into the game without State Of Origin winger Brett Morris, Josh Reynolds and James Graham.
Canterbury clearly missed its stars and the Panthers took advantage, scoring three tries in the first half and added four more in after the break.
The last try of the game was scored at the death by winger Josh Mansour, who was playing his first game of the season after an off-season knee reconstruction.
