Perisher resort is to set to open this Saturday, one week ahead of the snow season, with an overnight storm last Sunday dumping 20cm of snow across the valley. snowfall
The resort is taking advantage of freezing lows forecast throughout the week with 30 snowguns to be producing snow in the lead up to the weekend.

Perisher's chief operating officer Peter Brulisauer said the cold nights would give a perfect start to the season.
"The last time we opened one week early was in 2012, which turned out to be a magnificent snow season," Mr Brulisauer said.
More snow was forecast in the valley over the next 48 hours, including Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega.
On Tuesday, Canberra shivered through its second coldest day of the month, dropping as low as minus 4C.

In the lead up to the early snow season, temperatures in the Perisher Valley are forecast to drop as low as minus 8C.
Those heading up to catch the early snow season can expect minimum temperatures of minus 7C, but sunny skies are forecast all weekend.
The festivities planned for the official opening weekend on Saturday, June 10 are still set to go ahead with the Peak Music Festival and a fireworks display.
