Liverpool's 1-0 win over Watford was a largely cagey affair, with little by way of goalmouth action — except for what could well be the goal of the Premier League season, of course.
Emre Can, an industrious midfielder who hasn't always captured the hearts of Liverpool fans, let rip with a picture perfect bicycle kick on the stroke of half-time. It was a bolt from the blue, and proved to be the match-winning play.
It's been a season of acrobatic wonder-goals and the race for the strike of the season is a tight one. There are still a few weeks of the season to play, so maybe the best has yet to come, but check out the best of the best so far and take your pick.
Emre Can (Liverpool v Watford)
The most recent of the worldies, and the sort of goal Can could attempt a billion times over and never replicate. Special.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United v Sunderland)
In what was the winter of the scorpion kicks, United's Armenian flyer got things started with this outrageous effort. Yeah, he was offside, but why let that get in the way of a beautiful goal?
Olivier Giroud (Arsenal v Crystal Palace)
Scorpion kick v2. Was this one better than Mkhitaryan's? Maybe the fact it was Giroud, a target man of a striker that sometimes seems about as mobile as a wheelie bin, that made it all the more impressive.
Andy Carroll (West Ham v Crystal Palace)
This really was a season for big lumps of players to take flight and score the kinds of goals reserved for more agile forwards. Was anyone surprised when Andy Carroll injured himself scoring this goal?
Dimitri Payet (West Ham v Middlesbrough)
Remember him, West Ham fans? The best player in the world/biggest snake in football? He was a one-man-band before he did the bolt in January, with this his most magical moment of the season.
So now you've seen our top five, which gets your pick as the best of the lot? Have your say in our poll.
