TOURISTS come to the Far North to dive with Nemo, but it seems an increasing number of locals are choosing to dive with crocodiles instead.
An Innisfail woman has been snapped happily swimming alongside what appears to be an unhealthy freshwater crocodile.
The woman, Shae Pasetti, is photographed holding a drink and smiling while swimming next to the comparatively small reptile.
“The VB made me do it,†she wrote after the photos were shared to popular Facebook site Innisfail News and Views yesterday.
Some commenters suggested the crocodile appeared to have suffered an injury to its jaw.
The post has already attracted condemnation online with the Queensland Crocodile Conservation and Protection Society calling for Ms Pasetti to face penalties.
“This person should be fined,†the group wrote on its Facebook page.
“When she gets bitten the poor animal will be removed.â€
The photos also come after Innisfail teen Lee de Paauw was attacked by a crocodile in the town’s Johnstone River in an attempt to get a date from British backpacker Sophie Paterson.
It remains unclear whether the date ever eventuated.
The Cairns Post has attempted to contact Ms Pasetti.
