Wests Tigers, throughout their negotiations with the 'big four', have been an easy mark.

Given they are now outsiders in their quest to retain James Tedesco and Aaron Woods, it comes as little surprise. However, they were the ones doing the target practice on Tuesday as the club seeks closure on the seemingly endless contract saga.

Tigers stun the Cowboys

After a tumultuous week off the field, the Wests Tigers produced a stunning performance on it to down the Cowboys 26-16 in Townsville.

As part of a promotion for the upcoming Assassin's Creed DVD release, the players tried their hand at archery. But the biggest  targets, the signatures of Tedesco and Woods, are proving elusive.

The Easter Monday clash with Parramatta is shaping as potentially the last for Mitchell Moses in the black, white and gold, with the joint-venture outfit tipped to grant him a release after the match.

It remains to be seen how much longer Tedesco and Moses will stay put, with the Bulldogs expected to formalise their four-year deals for the pair this week. The Roosters are also particularly keen on Tedesco, putting aside a fallout with his manager in a bid to get a deal done.

About a decade ago, David Nofoaluma and Tedesco were interchanging between the wing and fullback in junior Magpies sides. Nofoaluma, himself off contract, is hoping the relationship doesn't come to a premature end.

"As juniors for Western Suburbs, for Magpies, me and Teddy played our first game together at 13 or 14," Nofoaluma said.

"Now we're 24 this year and we have been going from fullback and wing together. It's something me and him will keep, we've had that relationship on the field for so many years. It would be a little bit different not having him in the same team.

"In saying that we've both matured and he'll make the right the decision for himself. I'd love to have him with me for the rest of my career."

One Tiger who has sorted out his future is Michael Chee Kam. The former Manly utility has inked as new contract with the joint-venture outfit and is hoping Tedesco and Woods do likewise.

"Obviously they are great players and we want to keep them here," Chee Kam said.

"They are going to be a great asset to the team.

"I want them here, they are Tigers boys and it would be great to have them here. It's not up to me to say, hopefully the stay."

New coach Ivan Cleary has only been in the job for just over a week, but the players are buying into what he is selling. He began his tenure with an upset away win against North Queensland and another victory against the Eels may sway Woods and Tedesco to stay.

"Obviously Ivan has got a good track record, he's done a lot of great things with past football teams," Chee Kam said.

"There's been a lot of energy and everyone is buying into what he's bringing to the club and the team."
