A GROOM is left shattered and out of pocket after his wedding had to be called off after his bride left him for another woman.

Adam Vickers said he and his intended bride Laura Callaghan had booked the church, the reception and a honeymoon in Thailand.

The 24-year-old plumber from the town of Middlesbrough in England’s north-east, said when Laura, a childhood sweetheart, told him why the wedding had to be called off he was shattered.

“It came as a huge shock. I never suspected she was a lesbian, Adam told the Sunday People.

“I felt sick in my stomach. I couldn’t help thinking it was down to me not being good enough.

“I never suspected that she liked women. She was affectionate and everything was normal. She never expressed any interest in girls.

“It totally broke my heart. We had been planning the wedding for months.

“All our family and friends were going to be there at the church. It was supposed to be the dream day.

“If she had just come out and said how she felt it would have been easier. What she did instead was evil.”

Laura, a mental health nurse, revealed she was in love with trainee cognitive behavourial therapist Sinead Keziah.

Adam and Laura began dating in 2007 and he proposed to her in June 2013 when they were on holiday in Cuba. He even said the pair had discussed started a family, even picking out names for their children.

The pair moved into a house together last February and the pair had booked their wedding for July last year. It is only now that he can bring himself to talk about what happened.

“Looking back, when I found out what happened I started piecing things together. Laura’s body was there but her head was elsewhere,” Adam told Sunday People.

“She was talking about Sinead a lot but it blew over my head because I’m laid back. We all met up once — me, Laura, Sinead and a boy she was seeing. She seemed upfront and confident. We were all chatting.

“I thought she seemed fun but I didn’t think anything of it. I didn’t know what was going on behind my back.”

A month before the wedding and after frequent arguments, Laura walked out and she blocked Adam on social media site Facebook. She posted a message that the wedding was off, leaving Adam to pick up a $33,000 bill.

He went on holiday to Thailand, which was meant to be his honeymoon, and while away was told Laura was posting romantic pictures with Sinead.

On Facebook Laura’s cover photo is a love padlock on a fence inscribed “Sinead Laura” with hearts.

In February, Adam claims a post on Laura’s page showed the women celebrating their first anniversary, suggesting they were together four months before she left him. He’s only now just begun to speak out about everything that happened.

“It broke my heart at the time. Now I feel angry more than anything,” said Adam, who is now dating another woman Sarah Lamming.

“I’d have gone to the ends of the earth for the girl. It was a massive betrayal.”
