Soon, you'll be able to ask Alexa to preheat your Jenn-Air Wi-Fi-enabled wall oven.
The luxury appliance brand has created a Skill that will let you use voice controls to operate your oven through Amazon's voice-activated, virtual assistant.
The new integration, announced this week at the Architectural Digest Design Show in New York City, will be available "soon" according to the company. Once the Jenn-Air Skill becomes available, you can give a voice command to your Alexa-enabled smart speaker to complete tasks like preheating, setting timers or changing temperatures. For example, you can say, "Alexa, tell Jenn-Air to preheat the oven to 350 degrees."
Jenn-Air, which is part of the Whirlpool Corporation, is serious about connecting smart home platforms and devices to its Wi-Fi-connected wall ovens. The appliances already work with the Nest Learning Thermostat, and you can control its settings through the company's iOS and Android apps.
The company recently ended a partnership with a connected-kitchen software company called Innit, but has continued to move forward with introducing Wi-Fi-connected appliances. Jenn-Air also introduced at the Architectural Digest Design Show a new line of refrigerators that you can control from your smart device.
